E-mail:

Hugh Gilbert received his Bachelors of Science degree from Loma Linda University in Occupational Therapy in 1990. After working in Sacramento for two years, Hugh returned back to his home town of Chico in 1992 and began practicing Occupational Therapy in an outpatient setting at one of Chico’s local hospital. Hugh was involved from the start with the development of a hospital based Occupational Medicine program; he expanded the hand rehabilitation program as well as the injured worker evaluation testing.

As the program expanded Hugh took on additional leadership roles by serving as the Outpatient Therapy Coordinator. Hugh has lectured to large and small employer groups about prevention and treatment of repetitive motion injuries and he has been a guest lecturer for the American Society of Hand therapists.

Hugh completed the requirements to obtain the professional designation of a Certified Hand Therapist and has recently completed the recertification requirements. As a Certified Hand Therapist Hugh has met clinical and educational requirements above those required of an Occupational Therapist in order to treat injuries of the hand and arm. Additionally Hugh has gained other special certifications in the evaluation of injured workers as a Certified Work Capacity Evaluator.

Hugh opened North Valley Physical & Occupational Therapy in October of 2003 with the goal to provide high quality rehabilitation of hand and arm injuries as well as improving community awareness of Occupational Therapy. Outside of work, Hugh is very involved with his wife by spending time with his son and daughter and by helping out at school, coaching soccer and baseball.
