Treatment involves post-operative rehabilitation, management of pain, sensory education and exercise programs. Custom splint fabrication is an important component in prevention and correction of injury. Training in daily life skills such as dressing, driving, eating are included. PediatricWith children, physical therapy functions to facilitate normal movement patterns and inhibit abnormal tone by using purposeful play in evaluation and treatment of the child. Therapeutic play helps children develop and refine gross and fine motor skills, coordination, balance and movement patterns. Skills are emphasized allowing for progress toward age-appropriate activities. Family participation is encouraged for carryover into the home environment.
